Board Development
This is a programme of development events for chairs and non-officer members of Local Health Boards in Wales The aim of the programme is to provide the following to board members:
- an introduction to health and social care in Wales
- training
- identification of priority policy areas
- how to differentiate between the role of the board and that of the executive team
- background to governance issues
- objective setting.

Session One: Where are we going and what do we want to see?

Full Programme
This development session for independent and non-executive board members will give participants an overview of the make up of modern mental health services, and the aims and philosophies that drive them. Contributions from a varied line-up of speakers will give the third sector and primary care perspective on how we can achieve the standard of service to which we all aspire.
Session Two: Where are we now, how do we chart our journey and how do we know we are getting to the right place?

Full programme
This follow-up session will look in more detail at the current situation in Wales. What are the strengths and weaknesses in existing services? What are our current expectations and how are we matching up? By the end of day, participants will be provided with a number of ideas and innovations to take back to their organisations.
