Gren Kershaw

Gren Kershaw entered the Health Service as a graduate management trainee and has held a number of health management posts in Leeds and East Yorkshire.Gren has lived and worked in North Wales since 1983, and prior to being appointed to his present post he was Chief Executive of Glan Clwyd District General Hospital NHS Trust.

Conwy & Denbighshire NHS Trust with an income of over £210m employs 5500 staff and provides acute, (secondary and tertiary services) and community and mental health services.

In addition Gren is the Chief Executive for the Welsh Risk Pool (equivalent to the NHS Litigation Authority in England), which he has held for over 10 years. He is, therefore, responsible in Wales for authorising successful claims for negligence as well as the promotion of good risk management practise.

In April 2007, the Trust became responsible for the Business Services Partnership which is a shared service facility providing Finance, Human Resource and Procurement services to the whole of the NHS in North Wales.

Recently Gren provided support to the National Patient Safety Agency in developing the national incident reporting system.  In 2005 the Trust was one of 4 Trusts in the UK to be awarded the “Safer Patients Initiative”, part of a £4m project sponsored by the Health Foundation.  Gren is a regular speaker at national and international conferences on developing safety in Health Care.
