Influencing
Why influencing is at the core of our work
- Informal & formal feedback from members has confirmed on several occasions that they believe that it is a key role for the Welsh Confederation to represent their interests and views with key decision makers.
- Our aim as an organisation is to increase awareness and understanding amongst external stakeholders about what we stand for and who we represent thus improving our ability to influence. The key activities under this heading respond to views expressed in the perceptions audit about a need for more focused and targeted influencing work supported by a real communications drive to improve understanding amongst key stakeholders about our mission and values.
- No other health body has an all-Wales remit, and counts all types of NHS bodies in Wales as current members. Unlike our member organisations that have to be focused on the day-to-day delivery of healthcare, we are able to devote time and resources to developing long term influencing strategies on their behalf. We are building the capacity, the capability and the political contacts necessary to speak with authority to decision makers on behalf of our members.
- Everything we do as an organisation is driven by the need to influence on behalf of our members; in one sense therefore influencing is simply the outcome of our work in other areas. However, influencing also needs to be an area of work in its own right, ensuring that our members’ voice is amplified and targeted at the people who need to hear it.
