Our Purpose

The Welsh NHS Confederation brings together all of the statutory organisations that make up the modern NHS across Wales. Working closely with our members, we are an independent driving force for the transformation of health and health services in Wales through:

  • influencing health related policy and the wider public debate in Cardiff Bay and Westminster
  • connecting health leaders through networking and information sharing.

Championing health and health services.
We promote policies that will help transform health services and health, meeting the current and future needs of the public and patients.

Engaging our members.
We aim to be an organisation that members are proud to be part of, to provide the widest possible opportunity for involvement, and to use the expertise of our members to lead our work.

Speaking out independently and with responsibility.
We work in a way that enhances public confidence in the NHS in Wales and its management, and reflect the views of our members independently.

Fostering excellence and innovation, leading the debate.
We seek to shape policy and thinking, link with members at the cutting edge and to promote the achievements of the NHS in Wales, and policies that support the spread of good practice.

Working in partnership and embracing diversity.
We develop partnerships where we can achieve more together. We meet both the collective needs of our members and the distinct needs of parts of the membership.

Providing value for money.
We develop innovative ways of providing members with more benefits, and generate commercial income to support our core work.
