Political Centre
Influencing politics – the voice of NHS organisations
The political process directly affects the climate in which our members work. As well as responding to government policies and consultations, we try to shape and influence policy at the stage of formulation. We aim to influence policy and decision makers across the UK and make them aware of the issues that are important to our members.
This is achieved through a range of activities, including talking directly to politicians, from all parties, in the National Assembly and at Westminster, and by working in partnership with other key health stakeholders to raise awareness on issues important issues and set the agenda for the future.
The very nature of political lobbying work means that much of it is carried out behind the scenes and in confidence. Examples of our recent political work include providing help and support to members in the mid and west region in talking to local politicians about the proposed reconfiguration of services and our lobbying of the Minister for Health & Social Services and the First Minister on the financial situation within NHS Wales. We also closely monitor Assembly business for any health related policies or debates, which may impact on the work of our members.
