Press & Media Centre

Influencing the media – shaping the debate

The media help shape the climate in which we all work. As well as responding to the news agenda, we try to shape it. For example, we recently secured widespread coverage of our report - Why the NHS needs fewer hospital beds. We work closely with the BBC on features such as NHS Heroes and Radio Wales Health Day. Examples of good practice from members, provided by us, are regularly used by newspaper and broadcast journalists. We place feature articles and letters in the Western Mail and Daily Post on issues such as chronic conditions, the changing role of the hospital and the future of primary care. And behind the scenes we brief senior journalists to help ensure that they understand the issues facing members.
