Public services that are seamless and citizen-centred: this must remain our goal, according to the recent Beecham report. In response, the Welsh Assembly Government is setting up Local Service Boards (LSBs), to help make this happen. But what will LSBs look like in practice? How can we make sure that they they help strengthen partnership working? These were the questions at the heart of the Welsh NHS Confederation’s second spring conference, held in Llandudno on 5 May

With around 100 delegates, drawn from all parts of the NHS across Wales, from local government, and the voluntary and independent sectors, the event itself provided an opportunity for professionals from across public services to come together and help strengthen the relationships which are so critical to success.

The programme included speakers from the Isle of Wight giving their perspective on what made a successful strategic partnership; along with commentators on the policy direction and overall challenges facing LSBs. The conference included an electronic survey of delegates' views on key issues relating to LSBs.
